LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Video leaked from an anonymous source appears to show future Vice President Mike Pence exiting the Los Angeles Memorial Colosseum, during the opening ceremonies of the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games. The tape displays a visibly angry Indiana governor, as he notices that several paraplegic competitors were not standing for the National Anthem.
Vice President Pence has questioned the authenticity of the video in a recent interview, adding that he has the “utmost respect” for people with disabilities. However, shortly following the incident in 2015, he allegedly told Corey Lewandowski, President Trump’s campaign manager at the time, just how upset he was that these “anti-American reprobates” would not stand for the Anthem.
“Vice President Pence said that he simply would not tolerate disrespect for the country. I tried to explain to him that these athletes love their country and that they would stand if they could. At this, he adamantly replied that if they truly loved America, God would heal their ailments. It was at that moment that I became extremely uncomfortable and abruptly ended the conversation,” Lewandowski explained.
It remains unclear as to who leaked the tape, but Lewandowski seems to think that the White House itself might be responsible.
“This whole debacle certainly does a great job of distracting everyone from the Russia investigation, doesn’t it?” He asked rhetorically. “I suspect that President Trump will be able to generate at least five or ten tweets out of this, which will certainly alleviate the pressure Mueller is placing on this administration.”
