Ted Cruz Blames “Butt-Liking” for Porn Tweet Controversy

Ted Cruz responds to Twitter "butt-liking" porn controversy.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) found himself massively trending on Twitter after his name was linked to an explicit video on the social media site. It features pornstar Cory Chase, a fictitious stepdaughter, and a young male on a sectional couch in a voyeuristic sex scene.

Around midnight Eastern time, someone on the senator’s official Twitter account liked the video, causing his @tedcruz handle to pop up in the list of handles that liked the video. This of course, caught the attention of Twitter users everywhere, thrusting Cruz’s relevance right up there with the most trending topics. By around noon, throngs of reporters were waiting outside the U.S. Capitol to question Cruz in person about his online tastes.

“I was sitting up praying, which i do every night and morning,” the senator said. “I never even took my phone out. It was in my back pocket. I sleep with my clothes on, too. I guess, somehow I butt-liked it. It was a silly mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.”

Jimmy Kimmel and the world wide web pounced on Cruz before he or, whoever on his staff had access to the account, managed to unclick the heart, unliking the over two-minute long video. Part of the viral backlash against the senator, stems from the fact that historically, he has been a massive opponent of online pornography and even people’s right to masturbate — yep, you heard that right.

Mother Jones reported that Cruz’s legal team tried to ban the sale of sex toys in the state of Texas in 2004, his team arguing that the state had an interest in outlawing “autonomous” sex outside of non-medical or interrelationship purposes.

“Ted Cruz thinks people don’t have the right to stimulate their genitals. I was his college roommate. This would be a new belief of his.”

As it stands, it seems very few people are buying into Ted Cruz’s butt-liking explanation. Despite his background and perhaps because of his hypocrisy, he continues to be mocked throughout the internet.

“I believe he likes butts, but I don’t believe he liked that vid with his butt,” said Texas resident Alice Walker.
