This week, Netflix’s official YouTube account released the trailer for their upcoming prank reality show, “What Would Your Mother Say?” In each episode, a man who has been caught sending unsolicited photos of their nether regions to diverse groups of victims will be lured into meeting with one of their targets, only to discover his own mother waiting to confront him about his inappropriate behavior.
“In the era of the #MeToo movement, we are hoping #WWYMS will contribute to the discussion around the pervasiveness of online sexual harassment,” a Netflix spokesperson explained in an interview with The Millennial Snowflake. “Specifically, we want to shed light on the mentality of the perpetrators, as well as the impact that their actions have, not only on victims, but also the perpetrators’ families, and society at large. We hope to accomplish all of this while entertaining the audience with relatable schadenfreude.”
The first season of this show will consist of 12 episodes, featuring 12 different men of varied ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. The audience will get to hear the stories of the many unfortunate souls, who had been prayed upon. The harasse then will go through an “intervention,” spearheaded by their respective mothers. It will be up to the viewers to decide if the perpetrators have learned a lesson on the importance of enthusiastic consent, or if they will remain undeterred in their foul ways.
Many have already started forming their opinions ahead of time. #WWYMS is trending and Twitter has been abuzz with excitement, apprehension, and even rage.
“No spoilers” was the evasive reply the spokesperson gave, when questioned about whether they felt that the public’s reactions were justified..
“You’ll have to wait and see for yourselves.”
“What Would Your Mother Say?” will premiere on November 5th.
